In order to save herself and the abused children she works with, she will have to team up with Dr. Kade Nevala, a member of the shifter tribe responsible for eradicating weresnakes—and the most attractive man Lindi's ever met. I have to start with what really bothered me. (No spoilers I promise) In the 3rd chapter Lindi gets handed a note that she is very anxious to read, she even considers pulling over her car to read it right away, she tosses it onto the passenger seat and that's it. Next chapter begins with no mention of the note or its contents. It would be different if she hadn't wanted to read it, if she had crumpled it up and tossed it in her back seat the note wouldn't have mattered but the author made a point of the note and then NEVER refers to it again. In the 4th chapter there are names listed of 5 dead bodies and how they died, but then a paragraph later they are referred to as "the 3 girls" and then a little later as "the 4 victims."These are very small problems and that is what frustrated me so much that I almost stopped reading by chapter 5! ANYONE proof reading this book could have caught such small details and corrected these tiny inconsistencies but no one DID. How did these not get fixed before publication?
That said, the story itself was different and engaging. The characters were interesting. There were lots of times the situation required a LOT of suspension of disbelief. Lindi does some stupid things but that's okay, hindsight can always explain why she shouldn't have trusted who she did and I'm not super picky about the plot having some holes. I mean, it's entertainment not a thesis. All in all it was a fun read and unusual. Not the typical shifter romance novel. I'm glad I didn't quit reading but I really hope somebody proof reads future books.

Under Her Skin Shifter Shield Book 1 edition by Margo Bond Collins Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Snake shifter mated to a mongoose shifter.... she grew up thinking she is the only shifter so she must hide who and what she is, no one can know, Ok, that almost works until you realize she has lived in the same city, works in the same hospital and with abused kids, all within blocks of all the others. And they recognize each other instantly....Then after barely containing her passion (empty room at the hospital, skirt hiked up and legs wrapped around a complete stranger.) She finds out that snake shifters have been hunted to virtual extinction because all snakes are bad....so her survival depends on convincing all the others that she is different!!!!! Of course everyone is beautiful, handsome, and all of them are turned on by just being near each other, to the point that the urges are barely controllable, any touch is all that's needed to kindle an inferno..... and everything works perfectly. first time and every time.... The writing style is good and keeps the book moving along well.
5 out of 5 stars!! Even though she grew up in a loving home, being a weresnake with adoptive human parents, Lindi has always felt like she was missing something. Nevertheless, she grows up to develop her natural abilities to help out children suffering from violent crimes to be their councilor. During one of her on the job outings, she meets a little girl who is a shifter too who realizes what Lindi truly is, which brings Lindi to find out that there are more shifters out there than just her. Yet, when she gets more involved in the “shifter world” Lindi realizes that who she is, a weresnake, is something that most shifters fear and feel they should be killed immediately. Instead though Lindi travels a rocky path between learning about her new life, assisting the shifter world to find an actual child killer who has access to her own case files, and falling into an unintentional relationship with someone who is suppose to be her “sworn enemy.” Will she be able to embrace a life she may not be ready for? And if she can, will she be able to “win over” the shifter world in order to stay alive for good or at least long enough to help out?
It’s been a long time since I read a novel written entirely in the first person POV, and I liked it. I was enraptured with this novel from the beginning from learning about how Lindi grew up with her adoptive family to how she copes with learning her new skills about her snake-half after finding out about the shifter world. In addition, I enjoyed Lindi’s feistiness as well as how her snake abilities helped her assess life and the people around her.
However, through this multilayered plot what hooked me even more was the brewing relationship between Lindi and Dr. Kade. As their were-animals are sworn enemies, finding that Kade happens to be Lindi biggest ally is intriguing in more ways than one. Then add in their combative attraction seems to set the pages on fire and me wanting to read more about this dynamic duo.
This novel is written in a way that while the biggest plot seems to wrap up by the end, what will happen to Lindi afterwards isn’t completely said. Therefore, I feel that the Shifter Shield Series will follow Lindi quite a bit (and I’m very happy because of that).
I HIGHLY recommend this novel and series to those looking for a unique paranormal shifter romance!!

Most novel books I could honestly care less about, but Under her skin is different because not only is Lindi not a damsel in distress, but she works as a counselor for abused children. She shows that she is a caring person and she unlike most snake shifters, she is not a psychopath. I thought it was a brilliant idea to make Lindi a weresnake, because snakes are actually one of my favorite animals, and this book deals about some misconceptions about snakes, seeing how most people in our world hate snakes, and in this fictional world other shifters hate weresnakes. I also thought that the shifter Lindi falls for, Kade is a mongoose shifter witch are responsible for eradicating snake shifters since most were evil.Unlike most romance novels it's not always about sex, and for most of the book, Collins(the author) focuses on building her characters personalities, which is another thing I liked about this book. And the last is that Lindi and Kade have to solve a case of disappearing children which if they don't, could have consequences for all shifters. The only other romance novels I liked are the Tiger's Curse series, besides a few others.
I have to start with what really bothered me.
